Irene S. Kazmers, MD, FACP

Dr. Irene Kazmers dedicates her career as a rheumatologist to the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with conditions that fall within the broad spectrum of the field of rheumatology, including the many forms of arthritis such as rheumatoid, psoriatic and osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, pseudogout, systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, Sjogren's syndrome, Raynaud's disease, and the various systemic vasculitides. Dr. Kazmers earned her B.S degree in Biology at Stanford University, then received her M.D. degree from the University of California, San Francisco. She then completed the 3 year Internship and Residency program in Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, followed by Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of Michigan. She then joined the teaching Faculty of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan for 3 years, followed by several years as a Clinical Faculty member at the University of Washington in Seattle. She worked as a private practice rheumatology consultant in Lexington, Kentucky for 5 years before returning in 1993 to the Faculty of the University of Michigan School of Medicine as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Rheumatology Division. In 2004 Dr. Kazmers moved to Petoskey, Michigan and worked at Harbor Arthritis Center until opening her own practice, Northern Michigan Rheumatology in Petoskey in 2009. Dr. Kazmers is a longstanding member of the American College of Rheumatology. She is Board Certified in Rheumatology, Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. She is certified in musculoskeletal ultrasound by the American College of Rheumatology, and is Board Certified by the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine.
